Understanding the purpose of Characters in the text

My Reflection

I have been learning to relate to the characters in the text to understand their purpose.  I used a Venn diagram to compare Ivan and Stella in the story The One and Only Ivan.  This made me realize the differences between the characters but also what made them similar.  My next step is to be able to use this information to make inference about the purpose of the characters.  

3D shapes

 I found this easy because i learned about them last year so I know them.  My next step is to learn more different kinds of 3D shapes.

Solving Multiplication using Place Value

I A L T solve multiplication problems with a 2 digit number using place value.
I found this hard because i didn't  know if it was times or divided.  My next step is to learn more about solving multiplication using place value.

My Reflection

W A L T write  a character  description using  adjectives .  I found this easy because I knew what to do.  I used my 5 senses to write 5 different sentences about my character.  My next step is to add more interesting adjectives.

Comparing Fairy Tales

My Reflection

I have been learning to identify common themes in fairy and fractured tales. We read 2 narratives "Red Riding Hood" and " Into The Forest" A common theme I made was they brought food in both stories to grandma.  I found this easy because we wrote ideas in our draft writing book.  My next step is to learn more about fairy and fractured tales.

I have been learning to add suffixes to make it a plural.  I found this easy.

I have been learning to find information about my speech topic.  I used instagrok and other websites to research my speech topic which is money.  I found this interesting because so many people use money and they don't use it wisely.  My next step is to plan my speech.

I have been learning to make a justified prediction about a text.  I found this hard to make a prediction because I couldn't think what to type.  My next step is to read the story to see if i'm right.

I have been learning to identify the features of  persuasive writing.  I found this tricky because there was so many of them.  Something I learnt was a rhetorical question  My next step is to learn more about persuasive writing.

I have been learning to tell the time in 5 minute blocks.  I found this easy because I looked at the analogue clock.  My next step is to learn more about telling the time.

We have been learning about the structure and order of writing an explanation.  We had to put the piece of writing in the correct order.  I found this easy because I knew what to do.  My next step is to write my own explanation.

I have been  learning to solve multiplication problems with 2 digit numbers.  I used place value to solve this problem.  I found this easy because I knew what to do.  My next step is to solve division with remainders. 

Classifying Celebrations

We  have been learning about celebrations.  There are different  types of celebrations.  We had to talk about these celebrations and decide what  type of celebrations they were.  I found this hard because  it was hard to choose what celebration they were.

Responding to a text

My reflection

i have been learning to respond to a text using my prior knowledge and expeiace. We read a story called "Happy birthday  school " I was able to make a connection in this text when I read the story.  I found this hard because I couldn't find many information in the present.  My next step is to learn more about responding to compare it to other books.

I have been learning to add detail to my writing.  We had to imagine we were a soldier or a family member and write about this picture.  I used a conclusion to make my writing more interesting.  My next step is to use my 5 senses to add more detail.

I have been learning to  use strategies to add detail to my writing. I wrote about a moment in time  during my holiday. I used my 5 senses to add detail to my writing. I found this easy because I listened to the instructions.  My next step is to create an image in the readers mind.

Prefixes suffixes and root words

I have been learning to use my knowledge of prefixes and suffixes to read and understand  meaning of words. A prefix is a word with something in front of it like unlikely is an example.  A suffix is something that goes after it like licking is an example. I found is easy because  I knew what a prefix and a suffix was. My next step is to learn more about prefixes and suffixes.

I have been learning about decimal place value.  I found this hard because it was the first time I learnt about it.  My next step is to keep learning about this.

My Atonym Diamante poem

 I have been learning to write an antonym diamante poem An antonym is the opposite of a word.  A diamante poem is a poem that is shaped like a diamond.  I found this tricky because it was hard to think for a verb word for the word land.  My next step is to write another antonym diamante poem.

I have been learning to write a biopoem.  A biopoem is a poem written about yourself.  I found found this easy because i followed in instructions. My next step is to write different types of poems.

Summarising Information - Camouflage Presentation

I have been learning to find and summarise information in non-fiction text.  The best part was doing the activities.  I was  suprised that  it took a really long time to finished it.
My next step is to make sure I summarise  the information using my own words.

I have been learning to sort and classify numbers using a venn diagram.  I found  this easy because even numbers end with 2,4,6 or 8 and multiples.  My next step is to try harder numbers.

My Metaphor Poem

I've been learning to use metaphors to make it interesting by making pictures in the readers head.  Now I know now what a metaphor is.  My next step is to use more adjectives in my writing.

My Welcome Post 2017

Welcome to my Year 4 learning blog.  This year I am in room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Melville.  I enjoy learning about war and having fun.  This year I am looking forward to making new friends and Mrs Melville to be my best teacher in the whole world.  I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave with some feedback.
